As previously informed, we are phasing out support for the Java sketch tool, and we thus recommend all users to switch to the new SVG-edit sketch tool. (click title to read more)

As previously informed, we are phasing out support for the Java sketch tool, due to several problems regarding Java updates and the old technology it was based on. If you still want to use the Java-based sketch tool, see this FAQ article: Sketch tool does not work with latest Java.

The new sketch tool (called "svg-edit") is available for all customers, and can be selected in the sketch area when no sketch is present. The tool is a modern browser-based tool and uses the SVG vector drawing format. SVG is a standard format and many third-party programs support it (either built-in or via plugins).

For customers still having old FIG-drawings, it is possible to convert the sketch to the new SVG format, but the document containing the sketch must be unsigned. In a unsigned document with a FIG sketch, there will be a "Convert" button in the sketch area. Clicking this will display a converted sketch which you will need to confirm (as all conversion can introduce oddities). Once confirmed, you also need to save the document before starting to edit the sketch.

A user-manual of the new sketch tool is available upon request.
